At Tudor Grange Samworth Academy, all pupils are given regular homework designed to reinforce learning, build independent study habits and help them retain key knowledge over time. 

Most subjects set homework through Seneca Learning, our online learning platform that supports pupils in mastering subject knowledge through interactive and engaging quizzes. 

Mathematics homework is set through Maths Watch, which provides personalised practice tailored to each pupil’s level of understanding. 

Spanish homework is set through Active Learn (Active Hub), which is closely aligned to the curriculum and textbook used within lessons, enabling pupils to practise the vocabulary and language structures they have been taught in class.

Seneca Learning 

Seneca Learning is a highly regarded online learning platform. Through our Premium subscription, pupils benefit from enhanced features including smart learning algorithms, tailored revision pathways and detailed progress tracking.

MathsWatch 

The Mathematics department uses MathsWatch to provide homework that is closely aligned to the scheme of learning being taught in lessons. MathsWatch offers a range of videos, examples and practice questions that allow pupils to develop fluency, deepen their understanding and apply mathematical concepts in different contexts. This varied practice helps to reinforce classroom learning and build confidence over time.

Active Learn (Active Hub)  

Active Learn supports the delivery of Spanish homework by providing activities directly linked to the textbook and curriculum being studied in lessons, allowing pupils to consolidate their learning effectively.

What does this mean for your child?

• Pupils will complete weekly homework set by their teachers using the most appropriate platform for the subject being studied. 
• Most subjects use Seneca Learning to reinforce key knowledge through short interactive quizzes. 
• Mathematics homework is completed through MathsWatch. 
• Spanish homework is completed through Active Learn (Active Hub). 
• Homework tasks are designed to strengthen understanding, identify misconceptions and support long-term retention. 
• Teachers monitor completion and engagement and use this information to inform teaching and provide support where needed. 

We believe this approach helps pupils consolidate their learning more effectively, develop positive study habits and grow in confidence across all subjects. 

How can you support at home?

• Encourage your child to complete their homework each week. 
• Ensure they have access to a device and internet connection where possible. 
• Take an interest in their learning by discussing the tasks they have completed. 
• Celebrate effort, engagement and success with homework activities.
