Governor Profiles

Mrs Jenny Bexon-Smith

Mrs Jenny Bexon-Smith

Chair

I have had a lifelong career in education. I have been a senior manager in secondary schools for 25 years, including roles as Headteacher, Executive Principal and CEO of a Multi-Academy Trust. I ended my career as a Regional Schools Commissioner for the DfE. My skills lie in strategic management and leadership. My hobbies include travelling, gardening and reading. My interest in governance arises from my desire to give back on a voluntary basis to a sector which provided me with a wonderful working life and career.

Mr Neil Tansley

Mr Neil Tansley

Vice Chair (Pupil Premium Governor)

I am an experienced teacher (30 years) and currently specialise in teaching children with literacy difficulties. I am also involved in training and mentoring. I wanted to offer my services to a local school which is connected to my local church.

Mr Chris Collins

Mr Chris Collins

(Safeguarding Governor)

I became a TGSA governor not long after arriving in Leicester in early 2017. As vicar of St.Christopher’s church I serve as a Diocesan governor, although I also have a stake as a parent given my two children attend TGSA. My particular area of focus has been Safeguarding, though monitoring the school’s Collective Worship practice is part of my role also. I see the role of school governor as a way of serving my local community generally, and the TGSA community particularly.

Mr Pete Miller

Mr Pete Miller

(Finance Governor)

Pete Miller is the founder of The Miller Partnership, providing corporate and business tax advice. Pete joined the Inland Revenue in 1988 and was an Inspector of Taxes in Birmingham and London before moving on to posts in Policy Division and then Technical Division. After leaving the Revenue in 1997, Pete worked for 11 years in ‘Big 4’ firms and specialised in advising on major corporate transactions and the corporate tax regimes for intangible assets and substantial shareholdings, before founding The Miller Partnership in 2011.

Mrs Ritu Rai

Mrs Ritu Rai

(Special Needs Governor)

Being a governor gives me the opportunity to raise my confidence and learn and gain new experiences. The will to do something new and explore my skills and abilities have made me join as governor.

Mrs Jen Saunders

Mrs Jen Saunders

Appointed as Teacher of Health and Food, Jennifer has introduced two new subjects into the Academy curriculum; Children’s Play, Learning and Development and Sociology. Having worked across five subjects during her time at the school, and currently as Head of Social Sciences and RE, she has made a genuine investment in the Christian ethos of the Academy community. This goes further at the Trust level where she is currently undertaking research connected to the value of the Christian ethos of Church schools. Working as Trust Lead for Assessment and Moderation for RE has allowed her to work closely and benefit from the links of our Academy Trust. As teacher governor for nearly a year, Jennifer is committed to her continued strong links with the school and Trust.
