In Year 5, we have been learning about the marvellous Mayans and the inventions that have impacted on our lives today. We discussed how they used cacao beans to make chocolate, however it is not the chocolate that we all know of. Using chilli powder, cinnamon and bitter chocolate powder, the children got a taste of what it would have been like back in the Mayan rainforest.

In science today, we were learning about what causes a solar eclipse. The children re-enacted the movements of the sun, earth and the moon and how they align to cause the eclipse. We also investigated how this is different to a lunar eclipse.
