On Thursday 21st March, TGSA welcomed representatives from Samworth Brothers, our founders. Every year we celebrate Founders Day to show gratitude to those who supported the vision for our school, especially Sir David Samworth and the Bishop of Lichfield. Our School Leaders led an assembly for Year 7 pupils and our visitors, which included performance pieces and a poem especially written for the event by our very own Mrs Hawthorne.

We are so grateful for the time that employees from Samworth Brothers gave to our Year 9’s as they took part in a carousel of careers-related activities, learning about:

• New Product Development
• Operations
• Finance
• Engineering

The Food industry is one of Leicester’s leading industries and there are so many opportunities available in this sector for our pupils once they have finished their compulsory education. Every pupil in Secondary also received a goodie bag of Samworth products. The Soreens are always a popular choice!

For Primary pupils, the Samworth Brothers provided us with an HGV for the day and pupils were able to spend time exploring the HGV, whilst having important lessons on road safety. Our local PCSOs were a welcome addition as pupils were given a guided tour around a police car.

We ended the day with primary pupils, parents and visitors planting trees and shrubbery around our playground perimeter.

We are very much looking forwarding to showcasing our school again next year. We are very proud to be part of the Samworth Brothers family.
