In our English lessons, Year 4 have been learning how to write newspaper reports. To help develop our reported speech writing, we have had great fun learning how to be reporters and present the news. We have worked hard on ensuring that the news was interesting and we even interviewed a Wizard! We are really looking forward to putting everything we have learnt into our newspaper reports, which we are starting to write next week.

This week in Maths, Year 4 have been looking at addition with one or more exchanges. We have been using various concrete resources and learning in different ways to aid our understanding. Everyone is far more confident now and the smiles were lovely to see! 

During our English lessons, Year 4 have been learning about newspaper articles whilst focusing on the text ‘The Wizards of Once’.  Following ‘The Write stuff’ all of the children have taken part in the experience days which allowed them to focus on specific journalist skills.

Our focus was ‘The case of the missing golden lunch box’ and pupils loved working together to create questions and interview staff to gather witness reports. They then began practising their news reports in our news centre ready for us to film after half term. We can’t wait to see the final product and we are looking forward to sharing some of them with you.
