On Thursday 2nd March we took part in our annual World Book Day celebrations. The children were invited to dress up as either a character from their favourite book or in their pyjamas to demonstrate their love for bedtime stories. We made it even more special this year by linking it with Science. All year groups took part in activities based on the book ‘Everything is Connected’ by Jason Gruhl.

March has brought with it a range of weathers for our Nursery children to experience. We have had fun in the snow, investigated the properties of hail, played in the sun, and talked about how to keep dry in the rain.

The variety of weather has helped us develop our topic on water this term. We spoke about the water cycle and the different forms water can take such as ice, vapour and a liquid. We have discussed how important water is to us and the many ways we use water. The children had lots of opportunities to investigate water.

For maths we have been learning about the number three; we looked at how the numeral is written, how we can make three and we played lots of games that included doing things three times. The children are getting very good at subitising up to 3. We have also been discussing the language of measure including longer, taller, and shorter.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, we invited parents and carers into class to complete some craft activities with the children. We were extremely pleased with the amount of adults that attended. The children really enjoyed having their adults in class, and the adults enjoyed supporting their children with the activities.
