Welcome to Year 1’s year group page. This page contains general information to support parents/carers of children in Year 1. We also have class pages on Class Dojo, a secure website which can only be accessed by parents/carers of children in Year 1 at TGSA. This is where we will upload photographs and updates of what is going on in our classes. You can also use Class Dojo to get in touch with us and share the work that you child is doing at home.
Year 1 loved World Book Day! They loved dressing up and they especially enjoyed their trip to the Library where they listened to a story about sharks. They were then able to choose a book from the library to bring back to class. We are still reading and listening to these stories. So far, they have enjoyed listening to ABC by Dr Seuss, Mog's Birthday by Judith Kerr, The Little Alien by Mike Brownlow and Norman by Sue Hendrix and Paul Linnet.
The pupils have had a fantastic Number Day. They loved playing Bingo, making numbers with play dough, playing snakes and ladders, completing a number quiz, playing a number bonds card game and buying cakes at the Year 1 stall. We also went outside and played number games with a parachute. I heard a few children describing it as the 'best day EVER'!
Year 1 had a brilliant time in the forest. We roasted marshmallows and used charcoal to draw a setting from our English book, Hector the Big Bad Knight. The children also played on tyre swings and tightropes. Following on from our visit, the children have written excellent recounts about their afternoon.
The children love playing with the rabbits Flopsy and Flash. This was during feeding time. They especially like giving the rabbits vegetables. Flopsy and Flash love banana and cucumber.
The children enjoyed representing a number in different ways in Maths.
