We also have a class page on Class Dojo, a secure website which can only be accessed by parents/carers of children in Reception at TGSA. Our Blog

April 2022

We have been very busy with our theme of Noah's Ark in April. We had the most amazing visit to the farm to see all the animals - some of which had babies. We have also had the excitement of having living eggs hatch in our classroom and we watched them grow into the most amazing chicks that the children got to hold and enjoy taking care of. We have continued to welcome the year 5 children to share stories and our love of reading on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon and have been learning how share and help our friends at forest school.

March 2022

In EYFS for the Spring we have been making the most of the lovely weather outside. In Forest Schools reception have been reading the story 'The Squirrels that Squabbled' to help us with understanding how to be kind and helpful to each other. Reception have also being enjoying spending some reading time with our children from Year 5 classes - we have thoroughly enjoyed sharing our stories together! World Book Day was a huge success and we all enjoyed a range of activities to celebrate including a collaboration with the Library Service where parents joined us in classes for storytime sessions throughout the whole of EYFS. We have also had some new arrivals in our Reception classroom this week - Living Eggs! We are hoping to see all the eggs hatch in the next couple of days and will update in our next blog how they got along.

February 2022

This month, we had fun investigating key science concepts to explore materials which float and sink whilst learning about Noah’s Ark. We also read a variety of traditional tales and enjoyed retelling these stories using finger puppets and dressing up. In maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of numbers by representing and composing numbers to ten through playing games, using dominoes and tens frames. We have been looking carefully at the environment around us in Forest School and have linked our learning in maths when scavenging for winter treasures such as leaves, pine cones and icy spider webs. Some of us were even lucky enough to spot our two resident foxes in the woods whilst making ‘worry wands’ as part of our learning for Mental Health Awareness Week.

January 2022

It's been great to welcome everyone back in January. This month has seen us make the most of the weather and enjoy some 'icy' outside activities as well as some snow related learning around one of our core books, The Snowman. We have also been focusing our learning around other core books such as Six Dinner Sid, Rosie's Walk, The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch and Handa's surprise. We have had an amazing time exploring in Forest School and made some fantastic memories together!
