Students have returned to school today following an excellent residential to the University of Leicester last week. They took part in the Widening Participation programme which our Academy has attended for the second time this year. Students lived in halls accommodation in Oadby, travelled to main campus each day by coach, and attended a wide range of workshops, lectures and seminars, just as they will when they attend university themselves. In the evenings we were kept busy with experiences of society clubs and other events and activities that students can get involved with during their free time on campus. We had an excellent sports afternoon on Wednesday, so our students were able to get a real flavour of university life during their stay. This year we had students on both Medicine and STEM strands and would like to say a big thank you to all in the Widening Participation team, who looked after us all so well during the week, especially our mentors who are current university students and were fantastic. Also thanks to Mr Miller who attended on the trip with us, even delaying his birthday celebrations to be there.
